Enea Bastianini scored a fantastic second place finish today in Brno at the Czech Republic Grand Prix: the young Junior Team GO&FUN Moto3 rookie, despite the fractured right heel sustained on Friday afternoon during the second free practice session, produced an incredibly courageous display, fighting for the top positions for all the race and crossing the finish line in second position, just 157 milliseconds after the winner, Frenchman Alexis Masbou.Bastianini was back on the podium after the second place finish he had obtained last June in Barcelona, and thanks to this result is now eighth in the Championship standings with 71 points. In a hard-fought race that saw 16 riders separated at the finish line by less than 2 seconds, Niccolò Antonelli battled until the last lap in the leading group, closing the race just over a second behind the winner, but in thirteenth position.

NICCOLO' ANTONELLI (13th) “In the early laps of the race I decided to take not too many risks, but unfortunately doing so I found myself back in tenth place. It was a bit a rip-off, because then it was no longer possible to recover: every time I tried to come back, in the middle of the group something happened, with many riders intent to exchange positions. I was able to recover up to seventh place, but then I was always stuck at the starting point. Too bad, we could get more because I was comfortable with the bike and I kept a pace almost equal to that of the fastest riders: after good qualifications and Warm Up, we didn’t collect what was within our reach. In the last few laps I was still missing a little of strength to fight, but for the next race I won’t have problems. I want to thank all the guys of the team, who gave me the right boost to return to fight at the top”.

ENEA BASTIANINI (2nd) “Before the race I spent a lot of time in the Clinica Mobile to start the race in the best physical condition, and to be able to put my right foot in the boot without problems. I felt some pain in the last 6 or 7 laps, when I couldn’t do too much pressure on the right foot, and therefore I struggled on right corners. I got a good start and I was always in the first position, so much so that I did not even realize that the leading group was made up of so many riders! In any case, it was hard, in just a second you could go from first to fifth place and I knew it was important to be as far forward as possible on the last lap; unfortunately, at the end another rider forced me to go wide, otherwise I might have been able to fight for the win, but this will be helpful for the future. Being back on the podium after Barcelona is a great feeling, especially because in the last few raceswe have been unlucky. Now let's see if I can keep this pace... For the next race at Silverstone I should be physically ok, but we will evaluate it once we will be there”.

FAUSTO GRESINI “Bastianini made an incredible race, considering his physical condition, confirming once again to be a real talent. In the last few races he had already proved to be very fast, we only needed to realize the result: without problems, Enea can always stay at the top, and today he proved it even more, given that he raced with a broken right foot. I’m sorry for Niccolò: in the final stages of the race he lost some positions but he was still very fast, because he crossed the line with a really limited gap from the winner. The13th position does not do justice to his performance”.
