A crash during the tenth lap ended prematurely the determined comeback that Xavier Siméon put on display today at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone aboard the Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 Suter machine. Started from the sixth row, the Belgian rider recovered several positions in the early laps, taking the lead of the second group of riders, in tenth place, halfway through the race. Unfortunately, to laps later, Siméon fell as he lost the front coming into Turn 5.Aboard the Team Gresini Moto2 Suter Lorenzo Baldassarri crashed out of the race on lap 15 while he was in 19th place, fighting for a points scoring position.
XAVIER SIMEON (DNF)“Today I was feeling really good and in fact I was able to recover several positions in the early laps; Unfortunately, once again our race ended with a fall due to loss of the front end, which frankly I can’t explain. It's frustrating when you can’t understand the reason for a fall because you can’t learn how to avoid the same mistake. I always have a good feeling with the front end, but sometimes it happens that I lose it without notice. When I took the lead of the second group of riders I didn’t take too many risks, I knew that I would not catch the leading group, since I had a 6 seconds gap; I just wanted to maintain my position. I am very sorry for the team for this negative result, on a day in which we could have done well. The only thing to do now is to try to maintain a high spirit and try to make that these things do not happen again”.
LORENZO BALDASSARRI (DNF)“I have no words, I suddenly lost the control of my bike coming into a corner, without warning and I couldn’t avoid the fall... It’s a shame because I was just keeping my pace without making mistakes, and doing so I managed to catch the group of riders in front of me. Unfortunately, as soon as I have reached them, I crashed apparently without a reason”.
